Stand with Ukraine

De ogen van de wereld zijn momenteel gericht op de oorlog in Oekraïne. En natuurlijk op wat we kunnen doen om de slachtoffers te helpen en te ondersteunen. Op zondagavond 6 maart een benefietconcert in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, live te horen op Radio 4.

Op initiatief van de Rotterdamse geluidskunstenaar Michel Banabila verscheen gisteren een door de Oekraïense zangeres Maryanka Golovchenko samengesteld digitaal album 'Stand with Ukraine' met muziek van Oekraïense musici en componisten, waarvan de opbrengst naar Oekraïne gaat.

My good friend and colleague Michel Banabila called me to ask if I would like to collaborate with him in compiling a music album, from which all the proceedings would go to the needs of civilians standing strong protecting their home country Ukraine. I said yes and reached out to my musician friends right away.

In three days I called with my Ukrainian friends residing all over the world: Ukraine, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, United States, Poland... We need to act now. We stand together and this is what keeps us powerful. Doctors heal, cooks cook, car mechanics fix cars, snipers shoot, artists use their art to speak up - every one has its role in life and in war. Due to the current war situation i wanted to point out a concert by ukrainian danapris string quartet from ORF musikprotokoll 2021. In retrospective this concert can be heard as songs of human dignity without words. Danapris String Quartet is capable of producing the most delicate sounds on the highest of technical levels. They played one new and one old work from Ukraine and works by a Lebanese and an Azerbaijani composer.

Beide Ukraïense werken, gespeeld door het Danapris Strijkkwartet uit Kyiv, zijn te horen op respectievelijk 5 en 6 maart in Vrije Geluiden op NPO Radio 4.
