Podium Witteman 30 januari

Het Concertgebouworkest gaat zich deze weken onderdompelen in de Amerikaanse muziek. Het orkest heeft een online-minifestival georganiseerd met de titel ‘Made in America’. Een bonte staalkaart van Amerikaanse muziek komt daarin voorbij, van de laatromantische symfonie tot de minimal music. Voor Podium Witteman een ideale gelegenheid om eens flink uit te pakken!

De Amerikaanse componist David Dramm (’61) leerde tijdens zijn studie de muziek van Louis Andriessen kennen en de impact daarvan was zo groot dat hij in 1989 met zijn vrouw naar Nederland emigreerde. In zijn muziek spelen zowel de klassieke als de popmuziek een rol. In zijn bekendste werk ‘Master Bop Blaster’ vervult hij de rol van rapper. Hij zingspreekt zijn rol samen met enkele strijkers van het Concertgebouworkest.

Eerste klarinettist van het Concertgebouworkest Calogero Palermo speelt samen met 9 strijkers en de harpist van het orkest het schitterende klarinetconcert van Aaron Copland - een hoogtepunt in de Amerikaanse klassieke muziek. In Podium Witteman horen we het eerste deel: slowly and expressively.

Floris Kortie duikt in misschien wel de allerbekendste Hollywoodmuziek: de iconische tune van filmstudio 20th Century Fox. Waar komt die tune vandaan?

Mike Boddé heeft zijn eigen kijk op Amerika, het land van de onbegrensde mogelijkheden. Hij maakt een muzikale reis van Bach naar Stevie Wonder.

Op de avond voor Podium Witteman zal de finale plaatsvinden van het Nederlands Vioolconcours. Twee finales eigenlijk: de Oskar Back Prijs (t/m 26 jaar) en de Davina van Wely Prijs (14 t/m 17 jaar. En u raadt het al: beide winnaars mogen zich komen voorstellen!

Aansluitend op de reguliere Podium Witteman uitzending kunt u kijken naar de finale van het Nederlands Vioolconcours die zaterdag a.s. plaatsvindt. U ziet de optredens van de uiteindelijke winnaars van de Davina van Wely Prijs en de Oscar Back Prijs.
